One week of winter holidays in Davos

You can reach Davos by train or by car via the Prättigau region. In addition to the spectacular mountain scenery, Davos also offers a good infrastructure. In Europe’s highest town, you can enjoy winter in all its facets and with all its amenities. And the best part: The local cable cars and lifts take you to the summits of the Davos Klosters Mountains. From there, you can hit the slopes on your skis or snowboard.

Winter hike down into the valley via Clavadeler Alp

Start your first trip with lunch on the sundeck of Jschalp Restaurant on Jakobshorn. There, at 1,931 metres above sea level, you can explore one of the many winter hiking trails in Davos. The trail leads through the wintery forest to Clavadeler Alp and then down into the valley. The hike boasts stunning scenic views and takes about two hours — it’s also a great excursion for families.

Dinner tip

The Piz Piz Restaurant located at Hotel Davoserhof is a trendy fondue restaurant. Traditional cheese fondue or a hot pot can be enjoyed in a modern ambience there.

On the wide slopes of Parsenn, you can enjoy skiing to the full. There are many interesting spots to discover in the largest ski area of the Davos Klosters region .

Loop tour starting at the Weissfluh summit

When skiing on Parsenn, you should get up early to see the beautiful sunrise from the mountain. The best place to start is ski run no. 4 Standard first. After this little warm-up, you can start exploring the rest of the ski area. The ride up to the Weissfluh summit, the highest peak of the Davos Klosters Mountains (2,843 m above sea level), is definitely well worthwhile. You’ll be able to enjoy magnificent scenic views and take your souvenir photo at the photo point. The Ski Challenge Davos Klosters, which leads through all ski areas, and the Nostalgia Run start here, too.

• Beat Dominik Paris' downhill time on the Nordica Speed Run and win a hand-signed ski.

Diner at Giodavin Restaurant

Are you looking for the best cordon bleu in town? You will find it at Giodavin Restaurant in Hotel Strela. The kitchen team also creates many other delicious dishes for every taste.

Menu Monday at Rotliechtli: If you want to experience the Davos nightlife, you should order a Flämmli at Rotliechtli. On Menu Monday, the music bar serves this drink together with a pint of beer.

Madrisa, the ski area in Klosters, offers a wide range of activities for families and winter sports enthusiasts. Surrounded by the most beautiful mountain panorama, you can go skiing, enjoy the 8.5-kilometre sledging run or go on a snowshoe hike. From Davos, you can reach Madrisa by train or by car. In Klosters village, you’ll switch to the cable car and, within a few minutes, you’ll find yourself right in the middle of winter paradise.

Ice hockey in the evening

When the Davos Hockey Club is on the ice, the Davos fans are at the ice rink. Would you like to experience this spectacle? A unique evening at an ice hockey game awaits.

Dinner with specialities made on hot stone

The Ochsen Steakhouse at Hotel Ochsen is famous for its steaks seared on hot stone. An amazing experience for all meat lovers. Vegetarians will enjoy the meatless options. For a pleasant end to the evening, there are numerous bars in the surrounding area.

Pischa is the perfect place to escape from reality for a few hours. The recreation area in the Flüela valley offers various routes for snowshoeing and winter hiking. On good weather days, you’ll find yourself in the sunniest spot in Davos.

Excursion tip: Winter hike to Hüreli

The winter hike to Hüreli is a beautiful route on Pischa. When you reach the small Hüreli peak, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the village of Davos. You’ll return to the mountain station along the same route. A lovely two-hour hike!

Highlights on Pischa:

• Pischa can be easily reached by Pischabus from Davos village.
• On Pischa, you can rent and try out funsports equipment such as fatbikes and airboards.
• If you’re planning a snowshoe tour in deep powder snow, snowshoes can be rented at the valley station.
• At Pischa Mountain Restaurant or at Mäderbeiz, you will always find a warm and cosy place to enjoy delicious refreshments.
• You can experience amazing outdoor experiences on Pischa: Would you like to build your own igloo, go on a moonlight hike or try ski touring?

Evening programme: Night skiing

Fancy some fun on the slopes under starry skies? In the evening, the valley run on Rinerhorn is illuminated for night skiing. You can reserve a dinner table at Spina Restaurant and enjoy a tasty Tavolata there.

Jakobshorn is the “fun mountain” of Davos Klosters. You will find perfect slope conditions, excellent restaurants and cosy sundecks to relax on. In addition to winter sports, culinary joys are an important part of every ski day on Jakobshorn.

Après-ski fun after a day on the slopes

Jakobshorn cable car or Carjöler chairlift will take you to the Jakobshorn ski area. Jakobshorn is located on the eastern side of the valley. This means that you can enjoy a lot of evening sun and sunsets. After some après-ski on the mountain, the fun continues in the valley in the evening hours.

Highlights on Jakobshorn

• Good atmosphere and music on the sundecks
• After a day of skiing, you can enjoy some après-ski at Bolgenplaza in the valley or attend events such as the Cover Festival.
• JatzPark where freeskiers like Kim Gubser train
• The snowshoe tour towards Rossboden with a view of Sertig
• At the ski lift on Bolgen, you can learn to ski or snowboard.
• Children have tons of fun at the ski school or on the Kids Slope at Bolgen. Freeriders and ski tourers can practice using an avalanche transceiver at the ATC (Avalanche Training Center).

Dinner at the recently opened Chalet Bello

The newly opened Chalet Bello Restaurant is located right next to the Jakobshorn valley station. It serves Italian specialities and alpine aperitifs. You can dine and celebrate at the Chalet until 11:00 pm.

Rinerhorn in Davos Glaris is the ski area away from the crowds. The Rinerhorn ski area boasts plenty of space on the slopes, first-class restaurants and a fun sledging run.

Enjoy somevpeace and quiet at Nülli ski lift

Nülli ski lift is the longest tow lift in Davos – and it is definitely worth the trip! Once you reach the top, the silence and beauty of the mountains are waiting for you. On good weather days, the Nülli snow bar is open, where ski guests gather around the small hut. Rinerhorn is especially popular with locals and gourmets. Hubelhütte, for instance, serves delicious «Kaiserschmarren», a fluffy pancake cut into pieces, which brings a touch of South Tyrol to the Grisons mountains.

Culinary delights at Jatzmeder Restaurant

Every Friday evening, Jatzmeder Restaurant on  Rinerhorn is illuminated by candlelight. The special atmosphere invites you to enjoy a cosy fondue or raclette evening. The toboggan run and ski slope are open and illuminated this evening, too.

As usual, the holiday week is coming to an end far too quickly. On the last day, you can once again sit back and enjoy your time in the Grisons mountains. In Davos, there are some nice cafés and bakeries where you can treat yourself to a hearty breakfast. Or would you rather experience the mountains to the full one last time?

Sledging on Gotschna

Sledging is fun for family members of all ages! From Klosters, you take the Gotschna cable car to the Gotschna sledging run. With a view of the Prättigau region, you’ll swoosh down into the valley curve by curve and enjoy the speedy ride. What fun! Did you know? There are also sledging runs on Rinerhorn and on Madrisa.
