Our insider tip in winter

Rinerhorn is popular with visitors of all ages thanks to its various offers: Located towards the edge of the Davos Klosters region, the ski resort is a true insider tip among locals – perfect, if you want to take some time off from your everyday life for a few hours. Families, school groups, and other groups can choose from diverse leisure activities no matter the season.

In winter, guests and locals enjoy the wide slopes on Rinerhorn where they can practice their carving turns. What’s more, there are 39 kilometres of slopes, diverse off-piste options and five lifts. The pinnacle of winter joy on our adventure mountain is a visit to the perfectly groomed 3.5-kilometre sledging run.

A mountain that offers more than “just” scenic views of the surrounding summits: Leisure-time fun at its bests for guests and locals of all ages – that’s what’s on the agenda on Rinerhorn.

Skiing and Snowboarding

Rinerhorn – a ski resort for families and pleasure seekers: With 39 kilometres of slopes and the diverse offers on site, Rinerhorn boasts tons of fun and variety. The perfectly groomed, wide slopes are a great location for learning how to ski or practicing your carving turns.

Tip: Winter season on Rinerhorn lasts from mid-December to the end of March and lets families, school groups and other groups experience pure winter joy.

Beginners and pleasure-loving skiers particularly love the mostly blue and red slopes, which give them plenty of room to practice their turns and enjoy their skiing experience to the fullest.

Sledging

Ready, steady – and off you go right into your sledging adventure on Rinerhorn! Across a distance of 3.5 kilometres, you’ll be swooshing down a perfectly groomed sledging run with a total of 24 curves. The route is immensely popular – because it offers lots of variety and a challenge for every action-hungry snow enthusiast. The starting point is at Rinerhorn mountain station. Sledges can be rented at the valley station.

The different sledges and bobs can be rented and returned at the valley station Rinerhorn. For groups of 10 or more, please pre-register by calling the ticket office.

Rental fees for sledges & bobs (Depot CHF 50.00 or ID):

  • Sledge: CHF 15.00
  • Mini-bob: CHF 5.00

Skiing and sledging by night

Every Wednesday and Friday night from 19:00 to 22:30, you’ll have the option of carving down the wide descent into the valley or having a one-of-a-kind floodlit sledging adventure. The most atmospheric way to end your day is at the cosy huts and mountain restaurants on Rinerhorn. A "Spaghetti-Plausch" (pasta night) every Wednesday and a Swiss dinner every Friday: What better way to round off your sporty nighttime adventures!

Freeriding

On Rinerhorn, freeride skiers and snowboarders can live it up on the signposted and (if open) well-secured yellow freeride routes. What’s more, the black descent number 10 at Leidbachtal Valley is a true secret tip among freeriders where they can enjoy downhill fun at its best.

Winter hiking

Winter hikers enjoy the peaceful silence on Rinerhorn. The signposted winter hiking route leads you from the mountain station down into the valley. Perfect for a long walk with your four-legged friend or spending time as a couple while the little ones go sledging.

On Rinerhorn, you can look forward to …

In addition to all the child-friendly slopes in a stunning mountain setting, Rinerhorn boasts several other highlights for children. The mountain is also home to a magic forest. That’s where the local witches are up to some mischief, and where skiing over little jumps and waves makes children’s eyes light up with joy.

Whether you stay at the mountain hostel at 2,000 metres above sea level, RinerLodge by the valley station, Maxon Pavillon, or at the camping grounds: On Rinerhorn, you’re bound to find an accommodation right after your taste.

Select traditional delicacies like Bündner Capuns, tasty Kaiserschmarrn or fondue and raclette specialities – on Rinerhorn, culinary pleasure comes right along with having fun on the slopes. Little and grown-up gourmets enjoy scrumptious delights on the sun decks of four mountain huts and restaurants, and they love to come back again and again. The hosts of the Blockhuus by the valley station, of Jatzmeder restaurant by the mountain station, of Spina restaurant with its Tavolata or of Hubelhütte serving South Tyrolean delicacies: They’re all looking forward to welcoming you.

Rinerhorn in summer

In summer, visitors enjoy several activities that provide tons of variety up on Rinerhorn. Alongside many mountain bike trails, the adventure mountain is also known for its 4.5-kilometre scooter route. Curve after curve, you’ll be enjoying a fun-filled ride down the mountain on two wheels. In addition to these speedy adventures, the Alpine petting zoo as well as a playground are great fun for kids.

Hiking

Beautiful, well-maintained hiking trails – for instance, the high route to the picturesque village of Monstein or the trail down into Sertigtal Valley – make summer holidays on Rinerhorn an especially worthwhile experience for hikers with and without children.

An abundance of scenic views: The hiking trail from the mountain station to Sertigtal Valley boasts lots of variety: cool forests, fresh alpine streams and beautiful views of the valley. Along the way, you can also stop at a charming location for barbecues with seating options on Äbirügg. Until this point, the trail is suitable for baby buggies, strollers and wheelchairs.

Another highly recommended route is the picturesque hike to Monstein. The village has its own brewery and great restaurants, which makes it an ideal location for ending your hiking day there.

Biking

There are various mountain bike trails on Rinerhorn – among them, the Alps Epic Trail. Its second entry point – besides the one on Jakobshorn – is located on this mountain. The trail is among Switzerland’s most beautiful and longest single tracks.

Bikes can be transported onto Rinerhorn by cable car. Once you arrive at the mountain station, you can choose from several trails in various levels of difficulty.

Petting zoo and family adventures

Besides the exciting playground by the mountain station, animals like alpacas, pigs and goats make little holiday guests rejoice. The bundles of fur love to be fed and petted. And that’s an experience your little ones will remember for a long time to come.

This lets them have fun before continuing their day on a hike. The barbecue location on Äbirügg is a great location for a break while on family excursion – and it’s only about a half-an-hour walk away from the mountain station.

Riding scooters

You’re done hiking and would like to try a different way of exploring the mountain world of Rinerhorn? Riding kick scooters is a particularly fun and speedy option for that. Families and groups especially enjoy giving the adventurous 4.5-kilometre scooter route a try. Because accompanied by your friends and loved ones, it’s twice the fun to swoosh through the beautiful setting of Rinerhorn on two wheels.

Scooters can be rented at the Rinerhorn mountain station – including helmet and a brief introduction. For groups of 10 or more, please pre-register by calling the ticket office.

Rental fee incl. helmet (per ride):

  • Youths and children: CHF 13.00
  • Adults (18 years or older): CHF 20.00

Insider’s tips

On the Rinerhorn in summer there are...

Barbecues on Äbirügg and savouring scrumptious food while enjoying beautiful scenic views – on Rinerhorn, hikers and other sports enthusiasts can look forward to several highlights. Some of them are the prepped and ready barbecue locations for little and grown-up summer holiday guests. Just bring your favourite foods and enjoy your barbecue in the mountains of Davos!

Also in summer, the restaurants on the Rinerhorn offer the perfect refreshment for families, hikers or bikers. Whether in the Jatzmeder mountain restaurant, the Blockhuus at the valley station, the Spina restaurant or the Hubelhütte, which is now also open in summer, the well-being of our guests is our top priority!

The camping site at the Rinerhorn is very popular in summer. Idyllically situated on the Landwasser, the site offers the perfect starting point for activities in the region. But you can also spend the night on the mountain: School classes and families feel at home in the Berghostel, because early morning starts can be made right outside the front door.
